Who's Afraid of a Little Competition?
Competition–any healthy competition–is good, right? It keeps us on our toes. It pushes us to our limits. It makes us faster thinkers, smarter, and a lot of times even makes us richer. Who doesn’t want all of those things?
We see competition every day: Sports. People interviewing for the same job. Siblings competing for the attention of their parents. Businesses striving to have the best quality product at the best price. And game shows. Game shows are great. What better example is there of healthy competition where speed, accuracy, intelligence (ok, sometimes pure luck) determines the winner? I am a game show fan. If you happen to be sitting on the couch next to me and Wheel of Fortune comes on, you better know I have my game face on! And why is there always one “unique” person on Wheel of Fortune? Watch for a few nights and you’ll know what I mean. It’s kind of like playing “one of these things is not like the others” from Sesame Street.
I digress.
What would the world be like if we all went around acting like we were on a game show all the time? I think we’d all be faster thinkers, smarter, and richer. Give it a try. The next time your boss asks for a new solution, be the first to chime in with your brilliant answer. And by the way, the correct answer is always “What is new branding solutions from dd|a?”
